For three days in the new year period visitors gather for the first shrine visit of the year and enjoy sweet amazake.
From January to February, there are a few opportunities to see the shrine covered in a beautiful coat of snow. The amount of snow varies by year.
For a brief time between late March and mid-April, cherry blossoms illustrate the coming of spring. The someiyoshino variety of cherry blossoms can be found in just inside the Grand Torii Gate.
You can enjoy the lovely changing of the leaves from mid-November to early December.
Held in celebration of Oda Nobunaga's procession into Kyoto in 1568, this festival is held each year on October 19th.
